tl,dr; QUIC is solving shortcomings of IPv6, amongst others the badness of remaining Ethernet and IPv4, by replacing TCP.

This is one of the most beautiful and deep articles about our networking/IP world I've ever read. It's so helpful to hear background stories from the early years of networking (like IPX, I still remember it but was too young to really make us of it)!

This is a fair summary of the latter part of the article but I think the argument is flawed:

1. Mobile IP isn't actually IPv6's raison d'etre

2. Even for the mobile IP case, QUIC only addresses the HTTP client part of it - but HTTP didn't need mobile ip to begin with
