I am one on the cheapest people I know, but I did end up spending a little money on my icons. I started with a good sketch, and sent it to a friend who does graphic design. I can program, and I can put together some hardware, but I know my limits. I recommend you do the same thing. For about $50 you can get a good icon that will get you customers.
