I’m a software engineer at a startup, and I’m clueless about how to get a date. (startupsanonymous.com)

My recommendations:

1. Have interests outside of work.

2. Attend functions associated with those interests.

3. Meet people with whom you share interests.

4. Find some subset of those people whom you enjoy interacting with enough to want to do so outside of large group functions, and, in the process.

5. Follow up on #4 by spending time with some of those people in a smaller setting and getting to know them better.

Just send girls friendly messages. Pretend you're a job recruiter. It's actually very similar to that.

It's not for me actually, just thought it was an entertaining discussion on this site. Having said that, I think that's solid advice.

I'm betting you have no idea how creepy that sounds.

Well that's a job that it's very similar to. If you're an unfriendly or creepy job recruiter, it's not going to work. The same goes with dating.

That's pretty much the reason I posted this. Hilarious.

If you concentrate on finding dates, you will come off desperate, and women will pick up on this. Dating coworkers is also a really bad idea.

Match.com is a great place to find women to date and get yourself out there.

I also joined a local meetup and ended up meeting my wife there. We were friends for a couple of years before dating.
