We use Liquibase on my project and I have a few bugfixes / functional gaps that I was planning to contribute back but I doubt my large enterprise client would sanction contributions to a commercial codebase.

Why not, if liquibase isn't directly completing with your company and your bug fixes help their business, why would they care?
