yes, however that metaphor is non-interesting because aliens is not AI. Aliens were not introduced to earth by humans or created by humans.
there might be real risk with AI, taking the symbolism of an event that never happened does not help with understanding it.
If you want a more similar example: What if I told you humans had the power to destroy the entire planet and have given that power to popularly elected politicians? that's pretty alarming, now that's something to compare to AI (in my opinion AI is less risky)
