This is just a link to the following article

It is not written by jwz.

Remember to open a new window and paste the URL in. jwz has a special treat for HN visitors otherwise.

I think users should disable or spoof HTTP refer[r]ers generally. It's weird to voluntarily be handing out pieces of your browsing history to random strangers—now, in this era of adtech surveillance, with data privacy a thing people say that they value.

HTTP refer[r]ers are an anachronistic relic of 1990's naivete/optimism.

It’s entirely a link to this article, so head right there: https://www.thenerdreich.com/the-network-state-coup-is-happe...

Reminder that to open a jwz.org link from HN you have to bypass the browser sending a Referer header, most easily by right-clicking link -> Copy link and then pasting it into the address box.

> Washington is full of rule-following valedictorians ...

> That's nice, but you need to learn how to swing on the illiterate bullies who steal lunch money.

Amen! are there any beneficent billionaires willing to fight dirty? I don't know much about George Soros but if he's demonized by the GOP maybe he should step up and do some of the things he's been accused of.

Fighting dirty is tempting, but it doesn't solve the problems, which require empathy and dialog. In the long run, the only hope humanity has is its better nature.

This current chapter may need to play out, and constructive forces pick up the pieces.
