I was going to ask about a KFC counterpart since they are similarly secretive; but it turns out this is publicly known, at least according to some sources.

There's also an Irish company that makes a KFC-like recipe. The current owner's father was reportedly a friend of Colonel Sanders and got the recipe from him. I've tried it and it's really good: I ended up buying an 11-kilogram sack.
I recommend deep-frying oyster mushrooms for a vegan version of KFC too.
Never been a fan myself and can't figure out why people seem to like it. It tastes bland, to me and tends to be oily in a disgusting way. I am not sure if it's a nostalgia thing, or my fellow 'Murikins are just so whitebread they think a wee bit of herbs and spices are a an absolute flavor apocalypse, or maybe it's a combo of both.
