Elon's father is also notoriously promiscuous and fecund. Inherited personality trait seems the simplest explanation. I'd think wealth is also part of it, but plenty of comparatively poor men father many children with many different women, so there's more to it than that. And wealth cuts both ways--Elon and his father might not have been so wealthy but for their personalities.
