The Quest 3, about 4 years newer and shipped last year at 515 grams and the more capable Meta Quest Pro is 722 grams. The Apple Vision Pro is 650 grams of headset and another 350 grams of battery for a total weight of 1 kilogram or 2.2 pounds. These monstrosities are not shrinking yet because their capabilities aren't good enough yet.
They'll keep getting bigger, or treading water at best, for another decade chasing needed capabilities before they start benefiting from a tech shrink. Then, a decade after that, we might have some form factors people aren't embarrassed to be seen wearing.
