Let us pay for this service so it won’t go down (2011) (marco.org)

I'd extend this wish to things like:

- Let us pay to keep this from being turned off. - Let us pay to have actual support, including ways to unlock accounts that are erroneously blocked/limited. - Lets us pay to remove all ads.

This is what I thought the article was going to be about.

Various services get yanked (not just by Google, though people keep lists of what it killed) without ever having offered users an option to pay for them.

Various services, like Google & PayPal, refuse to provide any recourse for account troubles or other problems, presumably based on cost of personnel, but refuse to offer an opportunity to pay to change this.

Hulu won't accept any amount of money to remove all ads. Amazon won't accept any amount of money to get rid Freevee ad-supported stuff that's "Included with Prime!" or get rid row after row of upsells for video/music/books. These two feel like, "We know already pay us, but pay us MORE.".

StartPage won't let us pay to remove the two pages of ads that load and push down actual results, either just as I'm clicking a search result, right where I'm reading a the top results. Great for advertisers, but not being able to pay to get rid of dark patterns that trick seems suspect for a "privacy focused" search engine.
