Yep, owned i5 3470 for several years, and it was very fast for me. Bought 12500 only because I needed AVX512 (and it is the best AVX512 around, with FP16).
1) You need CPU produced in late 2022, not in 2023. I deliberately checked the date code when was buying the CPU. 2) You need a motherboard with old miccrocode. 3) You need to disable microcode update in your OS, be it Windows or Linux.
It depends on the specific BIOS, but AVX512 can be used on Alder Lake CPUs if you buy a performance cores only processor or the efficiency cores are all disabled.
