Documentation is one of the skills that I personally think separates a senior/staff engineer from a junior/mid-level engineer.

As an added bonus, it aids in the transfer of knowledge and handing off work/ownership to others.

It feels like now we are in an age of Ikea of code (assemble and dispose) and many devs end up not exercising this skill.
