The reactive programming idea is implemented by the Kotlin Compose project as a compiler plugin so it behaves as a language feature. Compose is confusingly named in that there is a more popular Android UI toolkit with the same name built on top of the reactive feature. But Compose the compiler plugin is available by itself without the UI thing.

I've been playing around with it and find it can really simplify a lot of code.
