There’s a Clever Strategy Behind the Flash of Fireworks Packaging (aiga.org)

For some reason I clicked this expecting an Easter egg from Macromedia Flash and Macromedia Fireworks developers.

same here. I miss Fireworks, a software that didn't try to nickel and dime those who wanted to do both vector and raster graphics with the same tool, and it worked very well for website prototyping. great addon community as well, thanks to JS integration.

"[firework] packaging is designed to appeal to the main firework consumer demographic: men between the ages of 18 to 45" seems to be the only "clever strategy" mentioned.

The article seems rather light on information and rather heavy on mentioning the brand...

> a barometer for the interests of the cis male population

Triggered. Reading rest of article with extreme prejudice..

Okay, read to the end, I don't see any reason for that comment.. Imagine the outcry if anyone had written

"a barometer for the interests of the lgbtqia+ population", instant outcry for trying to frame into a single category such large and diverse groups of the population..

There seems to be some stereotyping of we people who like to see sh#t blow up. I am shocked. Truly, deeply shocked. And hurt.

‘ One of Phantom’s bestsellers is a repeater crackling palm break called “Shaggadelic Mojo,” whose flower-strewn box also features a lava lamp, a beaded curtain and a disco ball. It dates back to the late nineties, when Austin Powers was cool.’

Is this a fly trap to catch old people? I thought lava lamps were mostly a 60s/70s thing.

Remember that these are completely disposable products. You set it off, enjoy the kaboom, and that’s it. So you don’t have to be, like, into the aesthetic to think “that might be fun to see”; it just has to be interesting enough to add to your pile of fireworks.

It’s more like watching Austin Powers, not wanting to be the character.

Austin Powers isn’t cool anymore? I’m pretty young but that flytrap would get me.

I'd even go as far as to say that's groovy, baby, yeah.

I'd definitely buy Fat Bastard themed fireworks.
