Is it true discord keylogs outside of its app?

In the case of discord it stores the messages in its servers. So what is this news.

The point is it has the permission, even outside the app, the entire time it's running (so all the time).

I think their service is impressive but this is the reason I stopped registering (a few years back) when I read their privacy policy.
