The CONS:

Greek bureaucracy is well known to be pretty bad (a lot of announcements on the news, but a much slower and messy application); the language is too hard to learn and web gov. resources in English are generally scarse (bad done, not updated... and so on), so you sure need an accountant or an agency for it, which costs, hard to find a reliable one, maybe absent far from Athens and takes energy. Winter (nov to feb/march) is not hot at all.

The PRO:

Greeks are great! they really are! Foreigners are very welcome everywhere, English is spoken by old people, too (you'll not have a language issue at all for your everyday life), and of course the season (sun, light, temperature, sea, islands, scenario) is top in the world for 7 months a years. The internet (with the ex state owned company Cosmote, I would forget about the others) is GREAT even in very small islands (and in almost every bay of them, especially if you are on a boat/beach). Then, the sailing context: it is one of the best spot in the world for it (and so many "round the world" sailors end up realizing it was much better just to go there, once they reach the Med back from the read sea, and 'discover' Greece).

Interested? My suggestion is to try some 3 months in low (but still good) season: March to May (included), or September/October; forget about the winter. Choose a little island (yes, much better then the mainland) in the Aegean side (the southern the better).

Are you a sailor? lucky you! buy a sailing boat and live aboard! Sooooooo easy, a paradise, and soooo cheap, too! :)

Anarchist's mind? lucky you! you will love Greeks!

Good luck!
