I recently let my Verizon account lapse and I'm getting by OK with Gmail calling and Google Voice, but I'm also a journalist, so I need to be able to take and make calls without looking around for WiFi.

I'm uncomfortable with my movements being tracked by law enforcement. Is there a cell phone company that doesn't cooperate with the government by default, or would at least tell me how they track me and when they've been subpoenaed for my records?
