After 24 years on Wall Street in various capacities, I am now in Shanghai, China. It took a personal tragedy for me to re-invent myself but currently I am assisting people globally by resume editing, LinkedIn Profile creation, interview coaching and final edit and review of academic applications to overseas universities. The work is deeply satisfying vs. my prior role making rich people a little richer. And I guesstimate, with proper use of technology, I still have 4-5x revenue potential until I need to find more staff and layer on some new biz lines.
Agreed. I am a member of a club for 2 years in Shanghai, and corporate club coach to help grow a Fortune 500 club stronger. I have seen extraordinary transformations in individuals; often within 1 year. I joke it is a club for all us introverts to get together, support each other, and find our voice. Regrettably I was always too busy or didn't prioritize this craft in my 20s (now 49). It is one of the best, cheapest, most efficient ways to upgrade your career skills bar none.
AWS is not blocked but there are some inexplicable restrictions. Even with full licensing, you can't host a website on S3. And a ton of services are missing. Even SES which per the usual makes no sense. Welcome to the jungle.
They are Trump's way of not having every industry hollowed out so we are only a nation of consumers. What country survives (or is stupid enough to) give up its IP on a monumental scale and survive?
Glad to see I am not the only one. Running a Shanghai based career coaching service (think English resumes, LI Profiles, interview coaching, career path clarifications, strengths testing), I get approached all the time for folks who want 1-2 hours of career coaching, since they are stuck, all for a starbucks coffee. What part of "I am in a for-profit business" do people not understand?
