That’s so great! Thank you!

I wish something like this existed for Ada :)

Ada is underrated. I am spending lots of my time writing tons of open source software in Ada, mostly for myself, though.

I say the same about FreePascal, but not just for myself. I have deployed some CLI solutions that needed extreme Windows compatibility, from 95 through 98, NT, 2000, XP, ... until the very latest 11 / Server 2025. Only FreePascal compiler provided that easily.

I used to BE a software engineer. Then, I experienced a 3 years long burnout and got professional help. Now I work AS an Engineering Manager.

You are not your job. Do not put your ego in what you do. That’s something I discuss a lot during my 1:1s.

I’m sorry you had trouble with this, but I don’t understand the problem. I really don’t.

I am a tester. I’ve been a tester for 39 years. I’ll be a tester until I die, whether or not anyone pays me for it. At some point, you believe I am going to… collapse or something?

I have been burned out. Before I was a tester, I was a video game developer. I didn’t get the vitamins from that for the nourishment of my soul, and I DID collapse. In my experience, burnout has nothing to do with ego investment. It has to do with forcing one’s self to do something that isn’t a fit.

Once I learned about staying within my limits, I ceased having trouble with burnout. It had nothing to do with investing my identity into my chosen work.

BTW, I am a tester. I am also a father, a husband, an American, a philosopher, and a teacher. All these things are in me. As I turn 60, I am also beginning to embrace a new identity: old man.

For this purpose I wrote an app called Five Years Back: I can write one entry daily, but I can see what I wrote on this day for the past 5 years. My writing streak is… 1399 days as of today. Only me is using the app.

Good job and good luck!

Wow, that’s commitment right here. I only started journaling (dogfooding ichinichi) from 1st January this year. It’s nice to see an unbroken streak. Gonna check out Five Years Later!

Thanks! Fingers crossed!

I’m not trying to compete with Alire. I do Ada for fun and for the sake of doing Ada.

I want to go back to fundamentals and learn by doing how foundational things work. So the plan is to, kind of, create my own programming world in Ada.

I may come up with a way to transfer Alire packages to Tada, I may not :)

This is, for now, for my personal use, but I couldn’t be more happy if someone else finds it useful :)

Does anyone know if this is Chrome in disguise?

Fastmail.app/Contents/Frameworks/Electron Framework.framework

Yes, Electron 38.2.2 at least which isn't bugged on macOS Tahoe.

Nice!

I will. This is a first step to gather feedback and everything.

Nothing specific to Doom Emacs. And that’s great! I just packaged it so it just works! :)

The author/maintainer of doom emacs is amazing but also very nice, I think you should try to open a MR to include your work inside the project, which would make it even smoother to enable and also easier to discover

Youhou well done! I don't know Ada, but now it's so easy to try out that I might!

I will, I will. A man has to start somewhere ;) Thanks!

Yes! Doom Emacs & Spacemacs are recipe books, not necessarily concrete products you have to use in prescriptive manner. Any Emacs user can make use of their modules, some of them are full of interesting gems. I'd highly recommend exploring them for ideas.
