I was trying to find a blog post that beautifully explains it but cannot at the moment.

In one sentence, no one (with skill) will work for you for free.

I am willing to pay a totally fair price...still where are these people?

"Fair" or "insane" ideas on price vary a lot between people. See also "competitive" salary on job posts.

You might think $10 an hour is fair. Or you might think $1000 an hour is fair. If the developers you're trying to contact can't guess where you are on pricing, they'll probably ignore you.

Wow, what an amazing feat. Congratulations!

thank you so much. glad you liked the model.

I can guarantee you that Elizabeth Holmes will get a big bunch of funding for a new startup as soon as she's out of jail.

Even with SBF I'm 50/50 on that.

A lot of companies are currently doing what (if you squint) Holmes was claiming Theranos would be able to do a decade ago. I agree with you that this is enough for her to claim, plausibly to some, that she was basically on the right track.

SBF, similarly, happened to have FTX invest in Anthropic early, and while we don't know how that's gonna play out now that they're at odds with the DoW, the value of Anthropic has already increased enough that it would have made whole all the money he was wasting/embezzling, so there's going to be a path for people to claim that he's directionally worth investing more money in, if he's out anytime soon.

It is StumbleUpon over again.

There is indeed a lot of similarity with webrings and StumbleUpon but there are some differences as well. I discuss this in more detail in the project README here: https://codeberg.org/susam/wander#faq

Just to clarify, I like Wander. I'd really like to see something fill in the void left by StumbleUpon.

I used to spend hoooooooours wandering there.

Yeah, like, it's not even that difficult to re-compile your media player in order for it to support a new format you want, like FLAC.

Yes yes, I can already hear the naysayers "it's not that easy". It actually is! Just make sure you have the appropriate GLIBC version and a specific version of either clang or GCC that is compatible (hey it's Linux, you can choose!). Then do the usual ./configure --with-openssl=<CUSTOM_SSL_LIB_BECAUSE_THE_STOCK_ONE_IS_TOO_OLD>, make, make install (remember to use sudo on that one because we write some system files).

Honestly, the whole process took me just two hours from start to finish. Easy peasy.

I'd much rather do that than buying hardware that is massively overpr... oh, you're saying they're cheaper than Linux laptops now? Idk man ... I would still not buy any of that, those are definitely for brainwashed cattle.

This is like the Resistance and the Rebel alliance.

Also reminds me of Voldemort.

I wish there was a Lego set to support the cause of climate change.

Ugh, consume a greater variety[0] of media, please!

"This" is mostly like every fascist, authoritarian administration or group in the history of civilization. And you only have children's franchise properties for reference? We are screwed.

I will spend the rest of my life begging STEM majors to study one iota of the humanities.

Would you mind if I sent you a book list?Or even films?

I'd be interested to see your list! Contact in bio if you don't want to post it here.

>in a way that’s more compatible than any other alternative

I can see where that's going.

Awesome. I want to msg. you on LinkedIn but can't.

I am captivated by your thought process.

Thank you for your service!

>Let me be honest: a PR that size would normally take months of full-time work. This one happened because I built it with Claude Code.

The node.js codebase and standard library has a very high standard of quality, hope that doesn't get washed out by sloppy AI-generated code.

OTOH, Matteo is an excellent engineer and the community owes a lot to him. So I guess the code is solid :).
