I like that it's able to infer information from the context of the cells, e.g. being able to run a query across continents when the data only contains the country.
Being able to ask it to interpret the results is helpful, it would be cool if it automatically told you if there was enough data to have statistical significance in the conclusions it was presenting.
You may see that we try to suggest follow-up questions or question improvements where we think better context-in will result in a better result-out.
Curious what will happen if you modify the question to be more explicit?
I have seen that PMs and data-trained folk tend to be very articulate in asking for exactly what they want and that tends to lead to significantly better LLM responses.
so you want a blockchain instead of database because of a lack of trust between who and who? if 2 parties can't you just run 2 databases? and if there is a trust issue don't you have bigger problems anyway as somebody still needs to sign off (attach their reputation to an assertion) that item X came from place Y etc - but if you can't trust the database what makes you think you trust the person ?
in private consortiums, instead of having data locked up in silos across organisations, everyone can have a copy of the data and build their own view on top of it.
you don't have to trust any party as to the authenticity of the data as you can see every change that has been made.
My understanding is that Trump's trade war was apart of the America First economic policy to reduce the US trade deficit. This had the added benefit of making manufacturing more viable in the US.
I found the thought process of trying to make the predictions quite rewarding to go through, it will be interesting to look back in 10 years and see how close or not they are
Long term transaction data and browsing history could be used to train a federated learning algorithm to generate search results.
Getting access to that data to understand what stories it can tell is difficult ask without offering a lot of value in return.
In the short term I believe providing insights into a persons finances is the way to provide that value.
E.g. if you have an extra $5k how do your circumstances change if you
- pay off student debt
- pay extra on your mortgage
- buy solar
- contribute to your 401k / retirement savings
or showing how changes in spending alters the amount of pretax money you need to earn to support your lifestyle.
or how does your spending compare to people like you?
As the author I probably can't change your mind without revealing his real identity, but i'm glad you thought the writing was well calibrated :) so thanks I guess?
OR - tech skills are only part of the salary you get. Another is being able to work well with a team. If Dave wasn't being paid proportionately, why didn't he just get another job? Maybe, just maybe, he SUCKED at working well in teams. Which means - the free market placed him in a niche position where the team tolerated his idiosyncrasies for good tech skills, and his salary reflected that
I was not Dave but I was the engineer who knew everything about the system at the MegaCorp. Turns out life goes on after I left and I’m sure after some pain the system still functions.
I was talking to my co-worker who was still there. He was afraid to leave since he’s now the only one left. I told him who cares the company wouldn’t care about you and our skills are marketable at the moment.
Don’t let guilt keep you underemployed or employed at a shitty place. Level up and move on.
Agreed. As an added bonus, if they really need him to fix something, they can contract it out to him. And if he doesn't want anything to do with them anymore, he can just charge a high enough rate that they'll bugger off after the first bill comes due.
This is how our modern system works and I wish more people would see it this way because the corp see you (and everyone) as disposable.
