I'm not understanding much from this thread's conversation. I'm not so interested in OS development (anymore).
Yet I'm reading the conversation in full due to the great, knowledgable, and foremost polite discussions. Not having seen this in Hacker News in a long time...
The problem of course it's so laid out to obtain the desired results. Artificial selection. But it's indeed shown that mutations, completely random, can breed evolution. The end results are unforeseeable solutions that work great.
Lately they haven't stopped releasing new great things: Persona, lljs, WebPlatform (co-participation), now this developer command bar, ... sth else? Impressive.
I actually think in this context "writing on your profile" is actually outdated.
More likely when you sign up for a dating profile it cross references your online shopping accounts and gives you a suggested profile automatically that will be partly based on the amount of meat your purchased etc.
