Thanks, never seen that acronym

Thanks. I just went down a little rabbit hole into Dennis Gabor and then the book Cybernetics. Fun. :-)

The signal works both ways. "Written in Java" would save a lot of clicks. So the Java author may omit the label for the same reason. /s

Is there a relation to the similarly-purposed and similarly-named https://github.com/CelestoAI/SmolVM

no relation, they build a sandboxing service using firecracker.

I build a virtual machine that is an alternative to firecracker and containers.

An interesting and accessible article on the increased plausibility of photonic compute.

Yes, and other hosts are working normally.

I'm pretty sure the only one that stayed up at all was Red Dwarf, the rest all rely on at least some part of the "main" instance and weren't up

It sounds like Blacksky's outage was much more limited and was caused by them missing some spots where their code still accidentally had some Bluesky integration due to it being the default: https://bsky.app/profile/rude1.blacksky.team/post/3mjnf6pubr...

But I don't see a comparable overview.

17.0 has preview build, but yeah the readme is still mostly relevant I think

Is the suggested download a plain http without any signing?

"Everything runs in your browser."

Several models to compare.

I really liked this video! Orbits are hard to visualize but I think the choices here were very good.

It's interesting that the flights are not timed for when the moon is in the magnetosphere shadow. As far as I could gather it seems they're intentionally exposing astronauts to more radiation to test equipment (maybe with an eye to future Mars missions?). Hard to get hard details from all the press release fluffy
