This kind of inflammatory nonsense serves no purpose other than to be insulting and provocative.

I think it signals to other people that they should not feel alone in that "this is all **ed up". To that, I appreciated the comment.

Kiro's spec-based development looks identical.

https://kiro.dev/docs/specs/

It looks verbose but it defines the requirements based on your input, and when you approve it then it defines a design, and (again) when you approve it then it defines an implementation plan (a series of tasks.)

Or property taxes should be eliminated because they are subject to abuse, and instead sales tax should be the primary source of income for all governments.

Is there a term for this approach? I don’t think it’s ludicrous enough to be flagged and buried at least…

I guess it would be a consumption-based tax. The usual argument against it is that it's regressive: the poorer people spend higher percentage of their income on consumption, and therefore end up with a higher tax burden relative to their income. This can be counterbalanced by e.g. not taxing groceries/food but it becomes a whackamole tax breaks game quickly---should we also exclude fuel/housing/educational expenses/etc.

The parent specifically said inference, which does not include training and staffing costs.

But those aren't things you can really separate for proprietary models. Keeping inference running also requires staff, not just for the R&D.

Eventually the only reason people will use Android is the same reason people are using Windows now -- mandated by their employer or by being forced into the bottom cost-tier of products.

And the experience will be just as user-hostile with no end in sight.

You can thank the DNC for the appalling choices in federal elections, they decided it was best to mess around with race and gender quotas instead of putting forward genuine candidates.

So instead they voted for Trump?

That's like shooting your own foot off. He's always been this person. He was this person in the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, etc. it's fucking crazy to me that anyone, ever, ever, votes for him. It's really opened my eyes to the realities of a lot of folks out there.

THANK YOU.

It’s so strange to me that anyone who knew anything about him even before he announced presidency didn’t find him to be completely insufferable and an objectively terrible businessman.

He has always been incapable of speaking without constantly trying to brag about himself or bitching about how things aren’t his fault, and even before the infamous “grab her by the pussy” tape came out it was already pretty well known that he was a perv.

I do not know how he got any traction. Except, you know, he became even more outwardly racist.

"Look what you made me do", the motto of voters with no agency.

Quotas vs Zero Policy Coherence is your takeaway?

* Product folks over-promise

* Engineers are consulted for estimates to facilitate long-term planning

* Middle management slashes those estimates in half due to pathological myopia

* Executives enforce musical chairs to assert their authority

* Consultants muck everything up while collecting enormous payouts

And yet the business cycle keeps cycling.

They spent billions of dollars on compute costs and they need to pump the PKIs to justify it. That is the only explanation.

It is the same reason every app (be they web or mobile) gets a redesign every year.

That's gotta be it.

At Ignite yesterday they announced that Security Copilot will now be included for free with E5 licensing.

The tool that until yesterday way $50k for a single tenant deployment. Aka, no one bought it, but they need to juice the KPIs so might as well make it free so it looks like someone is actually using it.

One delicious usage is blanching and then blending it into flour for green spaghetti.

Not all progress is good progress, not all cultures are good cultures, and some cultures are worth protecting.

Why in the world do you think you are in a position to decide what is good?
