Rust here rust there. We are just talking about C not rust. Why we have to using rust. If you talking memory safety why there is no one recommends Ada language instead of rust.

We have zig, Hare, Odin, V too.

> Ada language instead of rust

Because it never achieved mainstream success?

And Zig for example is very much not memory safe. Which a cursory search for ”segfault” in the Bun repo quickly tells you.

https://github.com/oven-sh/bun/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3...

More accurately speaking, Zig helps spatial memory safety (e.g. out-of-bound access) but doesn't help temporal memory safety (e.g. use-after-free) which Rust excels at.

Which is something that even PL/I predating C already had.

As long as you are using the "releasesafe" build mode and not "releasefast" or "releasesmall".

> Because it never achieved mainstream success?

And with this attitude it never will. With Rust's hype, it would.

None of them solve use after free, for example.

Ada would rather be a nice choice, but most hackers love their curly brackets.

Even within the rust OSS community it's irritating. They will try to cancel people for writing libs using `unsafe`, and makes APIs difficult to use by wrapping things in multiple layers of traits, then claim using other patters are unsafe/unsound/UB. They make claims that things like DMA are "advanced topics", and "We haven't figured it out yet/found a good solution yet". Love rust/hate the Satefy Inquisition. Or say things like "Why use rust if you don't use all the safety-features and traits"... which belittles rust as a one-trick lang!

Remind me about Andrew Kelley conf "data-oriented design" He had explained about this topic.

I am more lazy open email tuan hacker news. Btw I use harmony as my hacker news client.

Curious, what is harmony?

I think is USA more brutal born country on the world. They genosided Indian people to make theirs.

Really i Don't like windows but the text editor or the official tools like powerpoint, mas word, Excel more good than LibreOffice. I use it for my paper because my collage.

Did you mean colleague or college?

In the latter case, some (most?) countries require the use of open software and standards in government and various regulated environments unless there's a specific and documented reason why that's practically impossible. You may be able to tell your college they need to support open software rather than requiring everyone to buy proprietary licenses and get familiar with those specific products

(A bit off-topic, but I can recommend using a translator to turn what you've written in English back into a language you're familiar with, to check that it says what your intended. That way, you practice writing and can check the result for good communication also. I've been doing this for German and this is helping me practice in situations where I otherwise would use a translator from my languages into German because the translation's correctness matters.)

For casual use Google is fine, otherwise use LaTeX

There are many, many academic journals that require Microsoft word and won’t accept LaTeX

For professional use, Office is also fine (there is a web version)

Interesting web.

You have to add git and BSD. I don't really know about BSD but openSSH created by openBSD, one of distro in BSD community.

Is this the first design of tetris?

I think not. There is not only Tetris, but also Snake, and two types of "shooters" - one removes blocks, the other creates. And many variations of these four basic games.

Everything good if it's free.

I am waiting this from June.
