Yes, and surely these minorities are not treated like second class citizens? What's that? "A 2018 report by the Israeli State Comptroller on the protection of non-Jewish civilians found that 46% of Arab citizens in Israel lack access to adequate shelters, compared to 26% of the general population" In the context of bomb shelters.
Arab villages. Villages that start off with Arab inhabitants do not allow Jews to rent or buy property there. It's not a problem. But it makes these villages Arab only.
Likewise, there are Jewish villages. Few of these have Arab inhabitants, but it is not forbidden for them to move in.
> - Buying a house: Is this the best return I can get on a downpayment. (Spoiler: It is not).
This depends entirely on how much the mortgage costs compared to the rent you'd otherwise be paying no? It is very much case by case depending on where you live and therefore completely wrong to state as a general rule?
In my area mortgages are far cheaper than rent, even if you account for 10% annual returns on your house deposit when renting, you would still come out far behind in the long term
Conflating a scenario that will likely result in many deaths with leaking some customer emails is kind of crazy to me. How are they morally equivalent? Both are bad, but there is a significant difference in how bad IMO.
Hmm, based on the definition I read, sounds like both sides are doing it, Israel is just much more successful at terrorism and doing it on a much larger scale.
I would argue that the difference in phrasing is what makes OP come across badly. "I'm glad I didn't do what that person did" just evokes satisfaction with your decision, perhaps relief that you made the choice you did. Saying you felt "so smug I didn't do what that person did", definitely comes off worse IMO. Now you are not just happy with your choice, there's this sense of self satisfaction/superiority that's a bit unsavoury.
From my reading of the article they had offers to buy the film which were more than the $30M tax benefit, but they declined them. If they sell the rights they don't have to handle release.
There's no world where that is a moral dilemma (for me, maybe it is for you?). The ends don't justify the means is not a general truth, is depends on the means and the ends. If the means is typing a word and the ends is saving millions of lives? That's no different from cutting a red wire as far as I can see. The implication of the phrase is that the means you are using are morally wrong. Any action is a 'means' to an end. I don't see how typing a word (any word) is morally wrong, it's not even being shared with anyone, only used to disarm the bomb.
