I used to use the Photos desktop app to move my photos (“select from the app and drop into a folder somewhere” worked best) to a separate folder a lot (and regularly) until I started using ente. Now ente not only backs up to their e2ee cloud but its desktop app keeps those media synced to the OS of my choice on my laptop.

But I can still not escape Apple’s gonorrhoeic naming and organisation.

Pro: FOSS of course; it works, with limitations (that’s mostly Apple) and glitches (that’s entirely ente)

Cons: really subpar non-native apps (desktop app is quite a dumb app as well) :( (and barely and useful additional features that lets a user do some batch/organisational changes or so)

And much before that there were no passports. Maybe you have a point. Say Columbus et cetera :D

It has a party deck. Now?

No, it sounds horrid

When I was planning my ~3 months euro trip from India, I just couldn’t connect/identify with those subs at all. I guess it’s for the other way round mostly :)

Exchange rates are still incredible and a lot of foreigners do this in India. In places like Goa, HP, UK etc.

It gives up. Besides these days it’s Kolkata.

Not this but Golden Chariot (and Palace on Wheels - not sure this one still runs) was a dream since I was a student. When I could afford it, I was no longer interested. A few people I know took those rides and had nothing extraordinary to say of it. The prices are in USD so I guess it’s literally the “Raj Trip” trap for the foreigners and that’s what I heard from those few Indians I know who travelled in these. For the ultra rich Indian it holds no pull, and the rich Indians - they’d rather go elsewhere in that cost than cross the same tracks and platforms knowing fully well what lies below 2 feet and around it, in fact they can damn picture it in HD

That’s because Apple adds two extra legs to Safari on OS level and cuts both the legs of other browsers in a manner of speaking by rigging this comparison.

In what way do you think this is meaningfully occurring? I ask because I have not heard of Chrome or Firefox being inhibited on energy efficiency by platform limitations.

This needs a big ol’ “citation needed” slapped across it.

Not only that, but it’s important. Needless to say I am not comparing net-worths :) My rent spend started increasing around 4-5th year (steeply) of starting my first job and I saw it and kinda stopped/curbed it at somewhere like 7th year. It has remained there (give or take) because it had reached a really good level (below luxury or ultra premium so to speak) wrt my city’s general rental trends and spends (of course inflation factored in). It’s been 8 years since and I have been without a job for last two years (a bit by choice, if certain things can really be called choice) and pretty much my other spending trends also kinda plateaued around those years (experience spends kept going up slowly but I find them easier to manage). I can’t explain how much it has helped me when I have been living on savings for straight 2 years now. Not just the specific relative smaller amount but more so the predictability of it.

.. and I think there are already evidence that it tends to affect people who had regular lymphatic inflammations throughout their life (on a less serious note: like yours truly's.. the neck/throat ones.. and I am already forgetting things and blanking out and I haven't even touched 40 :/).
