not true! it's read by other LLMs! /s

Not sure why the /s here, it feels like documentation being read by LLMs is an important part of AI assisted dev, and it's entirely valid for that documentation to be in part generated by the LLM too.

love this idea on so many levels. Of course, then the fight moves to how allocation happens, and how to avoid people further gaming things like repo stars, forks, PRs, voting, dependencies, etc.

in particular, there's repos with extremely high activity where funding doesn't help anyone and repos with low activity where funding ensures continuity for key components we all depend on but which are under-funded for various reasons.

I'm pretty sure you didn't wake up at 5am to an urgent issue. Because I did last night, and for sure __MY WIFE__ expects me to get paid for it!!

In general, people's time is not free if only because they have rent/mortgage, food, transportation, medical bills, education, etc.

>Urgent issue

Urgent issue for whom? If there is some org relying on something you maintain voluntarily, in your free time, that seems like a "Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine"-type situation to me.

At the risk of sounding like a poor man's John Galt: If you wouldn't like to get out of bed at 5am to work without getting compensated, then you should just not do that.

Drug trade participants don't consider the long run.

Some drug trade participants do consider the long term. Specifically production and bulk transportation benefits from large long term investments.

+1000 - altered carbon season 1 is amazing. IMHO commit to watching it 3x to get everything going on - after the first watching, everyone's like "that was amazing but I'm not sure what I just watched." It's just so rich - if The Matrix is 136 mins vs 570 mins with that much more depth.

Is that just a TV with a fancy bezel that plays a 24-hour video? $10K seems a lot to drop on something so mundane.

If this meant more space and bigger seats due to reduced costs of the plane, sign me up.

If history is any indication, it would only mean more passengers in the plane.

GLP-1s have dramatic impact on diabetes and a number of other life threatening diseases, that wildly outweigh the side effects.

In general I agree. However I know someone who, since they have gone on GLP-1 burp, hiccup and do this strange 'gasp' with regularity. Probably related to the delayed gastric emptying. Adjusting dose hasn't helped. To them its a good trade because they had always struggled with weight loss. When I observe them sure they look better but now it seems like they are in a different type of constant discomfort.

almost: just cut a deal to allow partial liquidity, ideally via a vehicle that avoids tax events, e.g. loan

Can you expand on this please?

agree re policy, but technically... it's possible that today's drones are OK but they're worried about future drones including something new...

If that was the reason, a case by case analysis would make more sense than blanket ban. There’s no plausible technical explanation for this that doesn’t apply to any other devices, components, or software. If it could be made dangerous in theory then preemptively assume it will maybe at some point and ban it.

This is from the same people who brought you “let’s break all your encryption because you might become a criminal in the future”.

counterpoint: IRL, data values in a system like PostgreSQL are padded to word boundaries so either you're wasting bits or "carrying data."
