Rejected as well.
My husband and I were trying YC first but would love to hear about other options for our early stage startup. We live in the DC area if anyone knows of any development options in the area, please share
I think that this is true no matter what field you are in. Income is important and it is very hard to change course in life when you have a family and other financial obligations but it is worth it. A happy person makes a much better partner then someone who is frustrated and depressed.
I wish gender wasn't an issue. Women have been a big part of the work force for a long time and in the past few years it has become a necessity with the declining economy as most families need dual incomes. The tech industry, being the only market that is growing in our economy, is offering good conditions and some of the highest salaries. It means that more and more men and women will study programming and computer engineering. It means that gender roles can be left in the past where they belong.
