The cheapest M1 laptop is actually really affordable, almost the same price as this laptop's cheapest configuration. This is probably the exact product I would be looking for if I were trying to avoid buying from Apple. I couldn't find anything on cooling/fans, so IDK if this will be another standard Intel jet engine and lap burner.
Fun facts about me, I'm not Chinese or paid by the Chinese government. I don't want to see my friends or our collective kids go off on a stupid war with China or another war in the middle east. We remember the WMDs lie, we remember decades of wage stagnation, we remember the decades of politicians low-balling us on healthcare reform/student loan forgiveness/nuclear power plants/other green energy. We know how much Iran/Afghanistan cost. We know who, for decades, sent all our jobs to China. It wasn't China. Want us to give half a shit about putting Xi in jail? Put Bush and Cheney (random names from a long list) in jail first. We can't afford any more wars. We're tired of endless do nothing politicians and constantly being gaslit.
I wish people would spend less time on Mars and more time in asteroid mining. Building capital in space will be a real game changer and the results will be far more useful and practical. Colonization might even look realistic afterwards.
As a niche site, sure, it has users. It died as a competitive social network, which is the context that I'm responding to this article in, since it distinctly asks in the headline whether Tumblr is heading back to "the top".
So in context of Tumblr having a shot at being a top social network -- the actual history is a decline from being competitive with Facebook, to being a barely-unicorn, to basically selling for nothing and having no user growth. But again, if there's some evidence of an uptick I think it would be great to see. I'd much prefer Tumblr/Automattic over Facebook/Meta.
Also important to note that if you didn't post a lot, many subs will auto-remove content from low karma users. So it's possible to have misidentified a global shadow ban with a few subreddit's low karma filter. One of my spammer adversaries regularly games FreeKarma4U and a specific star wars game subreddit until they figure out our low karma filter threshold then they go nuts with the spam.
