"If you recruited the Mars crew out of smokers and sent them to Mars without their tobacco you would be reducing their chance of getting cancer." - Dr. Robert Zubrin
Huh? Of course it is art. Look at all the random graphics and movement coming together to form a 3D street animation.
1.) people can take away a lot from the code and animation which makes it a great example of a new art form. The street scene in oarticular conjures up emotions.
2.) just because a group of the Internet does not understand or appreciate art in all its forms, doesn't mean anything at all except they are ignorant when it comes to identifying artwork.
Here are the current steps we're taking to maximise downloads:
- ASO
- Business model (free app with IAP)
- PR (at launch)
- Market through previous apps (close to a million downloads in total)
- Try to get featured :D (a long shot, but we're at least doing our steps to maximise the chance)
Other than this we're using the Bullseye framework to test figure out which marketing channels which will be useful in the future, as we don't know this yet. But by analysing the most successful ones in this niche, Smule, it's very likely that thekey is managing to build the community around the app. This is one of the reasons we're putting a lot of effort into the community within the app.
100K downloads is totally doable in this niche, but it's hard.
I'm thinking about writing up more about these things on our Launch Diary:
Yahoo did this first. They weren't keen on the peanut gallery making inappropriate comments on serious articles.
I have a peanut gallery, I mean Comments button on my website for my mobile apps. It sends me an email and sits in a moderation bin. They are always support oriented so it works out great. This way spam is also directed to my email instead of the website.
Why not try surviving under the ocean first? Fail Squad NASA.
